The Department of Health Private Health Insurance (PHI) rebates will no longer be available for a number of natural therapies including Pilates run by Pilates Instructors as of 1st April 2019.

 

The Department has confirmed that physiotherapists are the only practitioners eligible to deliver exercises drawn from Pilates within their scope of practice and claim rebates.

However, physiotherapy exercise sessions—whether individual, group or class—cannot be promoted or advertised as Pilates or clinical Pilates.

A re-assessment must take place at 6 weeks and 12 weeks showing outcome measures.

Health fund rebate amounts are subject to individual funds.
